Important update regarding HIDDEN Rookwood Sculptures
In accordance with Government recommendations regarding non-essential, organised gatherings, we have made the difficult decision to cancel HIDDEN Rookwood Sculptures in 2020. This includes the sculpture, film and student programs.
The health and safety of our community and staff is our top priority. We remain in close contact with the appropriate authorities regarding the COVID-19 crisis and will continue to assess the situation in line with the prevention efforts taking place across Australia.
Now in its twelfth year, HIDDEN has become a firm favourite on the Sydney cultural calendar. It not only provides an opportunity for artists showcase their works, but enables us to share the historic Rookwood Cemetery with the wider community.
Please be assured that we remain committed to continuing HIDDEN in the future and we look forward to the ongoing collaboration with our artists, partners, stakeholders and visitors.

We'll send you updates about HIDDEN and Rookwood General Cemetery.
HIDDEN Rookwood Sculptures is Rookwood General Cemetery's annual public arts program
HIDDEN is an outdoor sculpture exhibition that takes place amongst the gardens and graves in one of the oldest sections of Rookwood General Cemetery. The exhibition invites artists to ponder the notion of history, culture, remembrance and love and allows audiences to witness creative expression hidden throughout Australia's largest and most historic cemetery.
The exhibition was established in 2009 to encourage the public to visit and explore Rookwood – the oldest, largest and most multicultural cemetery in Australia. Each year the exhibition attracts over 4,000 visitors and significant media coverage. It is a unique opportunity for artists and the community to engage in the cemetery’s contemporary relevance, cultural practices and evocative sense of place.
HIDDEN is an outdoor sculpture exhibition that steps outside the notion of mainstream galleries and typical outdoor sculpture exhibitions.
