  • Artists selected to exhibit in HIDDEN Rookwood Sculptures 2023 will receive an honorarium of $400 per work, paid after the exhibition opening.

Rookwood Sculpture Award by Metropolitan Memorial Parks $10,000

Metropolitan Memorial Parks is offering a major non-acquisitive award of $10,000 for one artwork, which is highly resolved and responds to the context of Rookwood in some way, such as the cemetery’s contemporary relevance, diverse cultural practices, historical significance, celebration of life, personal stories, or evocative sense of place. And/or the HIDDEN themes: contemplation, history, culture, remembrance, diversity, love, loss, mourning, spirituality, relationships, memory, community, cycles of life and the passage of time.

Muru Award by Dharug Strategic Management Group $2,000

Dharug Strategic Management Group is sponsoring a non-acquisitive $2,000 award to a First Nations Australian artist. ‘Muru’ is the Dharug word for pathways: inviting artists to reflect on metaphors and experiences of pathways, journeys, connections, and storytelling. View video about Muru Award.

Beautiful Farewells Funeral Director Award by Beautiful Farewells $1,000

Beautiful Farewells is sponsoring a non-acquisitive award of $1,000 to an artwork that addresses the conversation around end of life and the ways in which we honour our departed, while serving our own mourning journey.

Nerine Martini Memorial Award by Life Rites Funerals $1,000

Life Rites Funerals is sponsoring a non-acquisitive award of $1,000 for a work that engages with a social issue and/or involves working with a community group. This award commemorates  Nerine Martini’s vibrant life (1968–2019) and art practice, specifically her socially engaged creative work with community groups.

Western Sydney Artist Award by The West Journal $1,000

The WEST Journal is offering a non-acquisitive award of $1,000 to support the thriving art scene of Western Sydney. Artists exhibiting in the Sculptures category will be considered for this award, if they have a connection to Western Sydney through residence, family, work and/or study.

Emerging Artist Award by Metropolitan Memorial Parks $1,000

Metropolitan Memorial Parks is offering a non-acquisitive award of $1,000 to an emerging artist in the Sculptures category, who is in the early stages of their career.

NSW Public Works are sponsoring materials for each stonemason selected to exhibit in HIDDEN Rookwood Stonemasons 2023 with a piece of Sydney Yellow Block Sandstone, 30x30x30cm to carve.

30-Year Anniversary Stonemasons Apprentice Award by Friends of Rookwood $300

Friends of Rookwood are offering a non-acquisitive award valued at $300 for one apprentice stonemason’s work, which best demonstrates expertise in hand carving a gothic architectural detail. This award is part of Friends of Rookwood 30-year anniversary celebrations.
