Things to bring

  • Your artwork.
  • Tools and equipment for installing your artwork.
  • Refillable water bottle, lunch and snacks.
  • Wear practical enclosed study shoes or boots.
  • Hat and sunscreen (if the sun is shining). Wet weather gear/boots (if it looks like rain).
  • Fully charge any battery powered tools, there isn’t any mains power around the artwork sites.
  • Face masks are recommended whilst indoors.
  • Family/friends/assistants to help you install your work (please let us know in advance if you are bringing any children under 12 years old with you).

Things to remember

  • Make sure that you meet with Kath at your appointed time, at the RGC office on your first day of install. (See next page for directions). Bring everyone helping you to this meeting. Please be on time.
  • If you’re installing over several days, please text Kath each day when you arrive on site and call before you leave. 0423 462 443.
  • Hi-Vis Vests MUST be worn when on site. You can bring your own or use one that Rookwood supplies.
  • All assistants/volunteers (family/friends) MUST fill out the induction form prior to commencement - https://www.cognitoforms.com/RookwoodGeneralCemetery/_2022installvolunteersafetyform
  • Install will go ahead even if it there are showers of rain. However, if the rain becomes torrential or if there is a thunderstorm, and it becomes unsafe to continue installing, stop and shelter until it eases.
  • Ladders: if you bring your own A-Frame or platform ladder for your install, it must be checked and approved by our Rookwood WHS Officer before it can be used at Rookwood. (Note: Lean-to ladders will not be allowed.) Rookwood is supplying two platform ladders to be shared amongst artists during install, so it’s not essential to bring your own.
  • We will give you instructions where to drive getting to your site and where to park your vehicle. Please follow these instructions and be careful some areas are very water-logged: don’t get bogged!
  • Rookwood is an active cemetery, please be respectful of people attending funerals and visiting graves.

At the end of each day

  • Return all tools and equipment borrowed for RGC by 4pm
  • Return and disinfect all Hi-Vis vests by 4pm (if you’ve finished installing your work)
  • ALL ARTWORKS MUST HAVE A SAFETY CHECK BY 4PM or BEFORE YOU LEAVE ROOKWOOD
  • Don’t forget to take photos of your work and send them to us at Marketing@rookwoodcemetery.com.au  and when you post them on Instagram tag #hidden2022 @hiddeninrookwood @kathfries_curator @rookwoodcemetery so we can share them with your handle.
