Submissions are now CLOSED for HIDDEN Rookwood Films 2019. We have received an abundance of applications from emerging artists, artists from culturally diverse backgrounds, and artists with an interest in heritage. All artists will be notified on the outcome of their applications by 30 April.

HIDDEN Rookwood Films Award – valued at $1,500
Rookwood General Cemetery is offering a non-acquisitive award to the value of $1,500 for one artist. All artists that are selected into HIDDEN Rookwood Films 2019 will be eligible for this award. The successful artist will be selected by Sean Morris (Director of Square1 Studios, Curator and Collector of video art). The award recipient will be announced at the HIDDEN launch on 7 September 2019.
Note: This award was known as the “Flickering Stone Award” in 2018.
HIDDEN Western Sydney Moving Image Award – valued at $1,000
Rookwood General Cemetery is offering one non-acquisitive award of $1,000 to one artist who has a connection to Western Sydney. Artists wishing to be considered for this award must select this option on the application form and identify their connection as either living, working or studying in Western Sydney. The themes of HIDDEN Rookwood Films must still be addressed in the submitted work. The recipient of this award will be selected by Sean Morris and will be announced at the HIDDEN launch on 7 September 2019.
Note: This award was previously advertised in the Terms and Conditions as the "Peacock Gallery Moving Image Award".
JUDGE
Having originally trained as an interior designer, Sean Morris is an artist, collector, curator and Director of Square One Studios in Alexandria. He was a speaker for the 2015 panel on collecting video art for dLux Media Arts, and has been a judge for Wollombi’s ‘Sculpture in the Vineyards’ award exhibition.
