Co-Curator Announced - Nick Vickers
Our long time curator, Cassandra Hard Lawrie, has accepted a position with Willoughby Council as their new Curator and Visual Arts Cooridinator. We are very excited about this new challenge for Cass but due to the enormous work that goes on behind the scenes here it has meant that HIDDEN2017 will be a co-curated show. We are very excited to announe that Nick Vickers will be joining the HIDDEN team this year as a Co-Curator. Nick comes with a wealth of experience and will bring a fresh, new perspective to the exhibition. You can read more about Nick here.

Artists are encouraged to address themes surrounding the Rookwood site, such as history, culture, remembrance and love. This could include grief, loss, mourning, spirituality, the environment, and different cultural beliefs around burial and memorialisation. This year, we are also interested in applications that are inspired by Rookwood Cemetery’s 150th anniversary. This may include (but, is not limited to) notions relating to Rookwood’s conception, development and evolution; cultural concepts specific to important eras within Rookwood’s history (e.g. the Victorian period); and the importance of commemorative events to celebrate love and life.
